It’s Feria time, so that means we are all about Sevillanas and Rumbas Flamencas! Join us for a two flamenco workshop led by flamenco singer/dancerBárbara Martínez and guitarist Albert Alabedra.
🎶 Singers will learn to sing some Sevillanas, learn about the structure of the verses, practice the art of palmas (hand-clapping) and analyze how it all works with the baile (dance).
🎸 Guitarists will learn how to play por rumbas, breaking down the compás (rhythm) and different strumming and percussive grooves that make people want to dance.

This show features DC locals…Dancer La Magdalena and percussionist/singer Yiyi Orozco, who recorded on our second studio album, "ALMA".
La Magdalena is a beautiful dancer and she heads “Dance Flamenco DC”.
Yiyi is an accomplished flamenco singer and percussionist who is sought after by all of the US-based flamenco companies and festivals, and can be seen performing with Carlota Santana Flamenco Vivo.
And of course, we’re bringing with us from NYC the one and only Sean Kupisz on bass because we just can’t be without him! He has been away for a while but is re-emerging and we are honored to have him join us whenever possible.
